Nous appelons nos soutiens à nous aider à résister à la campagne israélienne de scholasticide et à reconstruire nos universités.
Nous nous sommes rassemblés en tant qu’enseignants et gestionnaires des universités de Gaza, pour affirmer notre existence, l’existence de nos collègues et de nos étudiants et insister sur notre avenir, face à toutes les tentatives de nous effacer.
Les forces d’occupation israéliennes ont démoli nos bâtiments mais nos universités sont vivantes. Nous réaffirmons notre détermination collective à rester sur notre terre et à reprendre l’enseignement, l’étude et la recherche à Gaza, dans nos propres universités palestiniennes dans les meilleurs délais.
Nous faisons appel à nos amis et collègues de par le monde à résister à la campagne en cours de scholasticide en Palestine occupée, à œuvrer à nos côtés à rebâtir nos universités démolies et à refuser tous projets cherchant à contourner, effacer ou affaiblir l’intégrité de nos institutions académiques. L’avenir de notre jeunesse à Gaza dépend de nous et de notre capacité à rester sur notre terre de façon à continuer à servir les générations futures de notre peuple.
Nous publions cet appel sous les bombes des forces d’occupation dans Gaza occupée, dans le camp de réfugiés de Rafah et depuis les lieux du nouvel exil temporaire d’Égypte et d’autres pays. Nous le diffusons tandis que l’occupation israélienne continue à mener au quotidien sa campagne génocidaire contre notre peuple, dans sa tentative d’éliminer tout aspect de notre vie collective et individuelle.
Nos familles, nos collègues et nos étudiants sont assassinés, pendant que nous avons une fois de plus été réduits à être sans-abri, revivant l’expérience de nos parents et grands-parents durant les massacres et l’expulsion de masse perpétrés par les forces armées sionistes en 1947 et 1948.
Notre infrastructure civile – universités, écoles, hôpitaux, bibliothèques, musées et centres culturels – construits par des générations de notre peuple, sont en ruines de la poursuite délibérée de cette Nakba. Le ciblage délibéré de nos équipements d’éducation est une tentative flagrante de rendre Gaza inhabitable et de saper le tissu intellectuel et culturel de notre société. Pour autant, nous refusons de permettre à de tels actes d’éteindre la flamme du savoir et de la résilience qui brûle en nous.
Les alliés de l’occupation israélienne des États Unis et du Royaume Uni ouvrent pourtant un nouveau front du scholasticide en promouvant des programmes prétendant à la reconstruction, qui cherchent à éliminer la possibilité d’une vie éducative palestinienne indépendante à Gaza. Nous rejetons tous ces programmes et exhortons nos collègues à refuser toute complicité ave eux. Nous exhortons aussi toutes les universités et collègues dans le monde à coordonner tout effort d’aide académique directement avec nos universités.
Nous apprécions sincèrement les institutions nationales et internationales qui ont montré leur solidarité envers nous, nous apportant soutien et assistance pendant ces moments difficiles. Nous insistons néanmoins sur l’importance de coordonner ces efforts pour la réouverture effective des universités palestiniennes à Gaza.
Nous soulignons le besoin urgent de rendre opérationnelles les institutions d’éducation de Gaza, non seulement pour soutenir les étudiants actuels, mais pour assurer la résilience et la durabilité à long terme de notre système d’enseignement supérieur. L’éducation n’est pas seulement un moyen de répartir la connaissance ; c’est un pilier vital de notre existence et une lueur d’espoir pour le peuple palestinien.
Par conséquent, il est essentiel de formuler une stratégie de long terme pour la réhabilitation de l’infrastructure et la reconstruction de tous les équipements universitaires. De telles initiatives nécessitent cependant un temps considérable et un financement substantiel, ce qui présente un risque pour les institutions académiques quant à leur capacité d’assumer les opérations, conduisant potentiellement à une perte de personnel, d’étudiants et de la capacité à refonctionner.
Étant données les circonstances actuelles, il est impératif de passer rapidement à un enseignement transitoire en ligne pour atténuer la rupture causée par la destruction de l’infrastructure physique. Cette transition nécessite un soutien complet permettant de couvrir les coûts opérationnels, dont les salaires du personnel académique.
Les frais d’inscription des étudiants qui sont la source principale des revenus de nos universités se sont effondrés depuis le début du génocide. Le manque de ressources a privé le personnel de salaires, poussant nombre de ses membres à rechercher des opportunités externes.
Plus que frapper les moyens d’existence des enseignants et gestionnaires, cette pression financière causée par la campagne délibérée de scholasticide instaure une menace existentielle sur les universités elles-mêmes.
Aussi, des mesures urgentes doivent être prises pour faire face à la crise financière à laquelle sont maintenant confrontées les institutions académiques pour assure leur simple survie. Nous faisons appel à toutes les parties concernées pour qu’elles coordonnent immédiatement leurs efforts en soutien à cet objectif crucial.
La reconstruction des institutions académiques de Gaza ne concerne pas seulement l’éducation ; c’est un témoignage de notre résilience, de notre détermination, de notre engagement indéfectible à assurer un avenir aux générations à venir.
Le sort de l’enseignement supérieur à Gaza appartient aux universités de Gaza, à leurs enseignants, à leurs gestionnaires et à leurs étudiants ainsi qu’au peuple palestinien dans son ensemble. Nous apprécions les efforts de peuples et de citoyens dans le monde pour mettre fin au génocide en cours.
Nous faisons appel à nos collègues dans notre patrie et au niveau international pour qu’ils soutiennent nos tentatives constantes de défendre et préserver nos universités au nom de l’avenir de notre peuple, et notre capacité à nous maintenir sur notre terre palestinienne à Gaza. Nous avons construit ces universités à partir de tentes. Et à partir de tentes, avec le soutien de nos amis, nous les reconstruirons une fois encore.
