In this lecture (in French) delivered on May 6, 2026, at ENS Paris-Saclay, Rafaëlle Maison, a professor of public law at Paris-Saclay University and a specialist in public international law, analyzes the legal classification of the events in Gaza as genocide, as well as the torture and other acts of violence suffered by Palestinians detained by Israel. The presentation draws in particular on the numerous reports produced by United Nations bodies—especially the Independent International Commission of Inquiry—and by human rights organizations, whose findings have yet to be widely publicized or discussed in the public debate.
