Marianne, the Scandinavian trawler who is headed to meet up with other boats of the third Freedom Flotilla to Gaza, is about to enter the Mediterranean Sea. After its departure from Sweden, Marianne has stopped in Norway, Germany, France, Spain and Portugal where welcoming committees organized a reception in the town hall, as well as film and music events.
The passenger’s list on the first part of the travel includes European MEPs, authors, politicians, and activists from the different countries where the Freedom Flotilla tops.
Marianne is a trawler who will give the people of Gaza better possibilities to fish in their own waters, something that is now heavily restricted by the Israeli occupation forces. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is in an emergency state and its society totally depends on external aid. The goal of Marianne’s journey is to end the blockade, goal shared by the other Freedom Flotilla boats.
