B’Tselem: “Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza did not end with the “ceasefire” declaration. Blocking humanitarian aid, alongside ongoing airstrikes and shootings, is a direct continuation of the assault on Gaza’s population.”
As of today, Israel is barring 37 humanitarian organizations from entering the Gaza Strip. This is the latest in a long series of obstacles and restrictions imposed on the delivery of aid to Gaza, in violation of Israel’s commitments under the so-called “ceasefire” agreement. It is fully consistent with Israel’s policy of worsening the inhumane conditions in Gaza by deliberately harming a civilian population that remains under blockade and attack.
Despite the declared “ceasefire,” Israel continues to kill Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Since the beginning of the “ceasefire”, 405 people have been killed and 1,114 injured by Israeli fire. Due to Israeli restrictions, as of 16 December, only 57% of the 556 aid missions planned by the UN and its partners were carried out, including the delivery of vital aid and equipment, medical evacuations, and infrastructure repairs.
Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza did not end with the “ceasefire” declaration. Blocking humanitarian aid, alongside ongoing airstrikes and shootings, is a direct continuation of the assault on Gaza’s population.
The international community must ensure the free, immediate and continuous entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, end its policy of impunity toward Israel and take concrete action to hold Israeli decision-makers accountable for the genocide.
