Israeli settlers tortured and beat to death a Palestinian worker in his place of work in the illegal Israeli settlement of Gilo. The body of 37-year-old Abdulfatah Obayat was found in a building in Gilo on 16December 2020. The Palestinian New Federation of Trade Unions (PNFTU) denounces this brutal murder. The CGT-INRAE Trade Union also denounces the murder and lends its support to the PNFTU.
Amid the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government of the state of Israel is taking advantage of this period to keep its economy going through the exploitation of hundreds of thousands of Palestinian workers, making them labour under inhumane working conditions.
Together with the PNFTU, the CGT-INRAE calls on the International Labour Organization, the International Trade Union Confederation and other trade unions to hold the state of Israel, its corporations, and its settlers, accountable for their crimes against Palestinian workers. And to wage a campaign to denounce Israel as an apartheid state, to ban Israeli-settlement goods and services, and to stop any business with Israeli and international companies operating in and profiting from Israeli settlements.
