The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research condemns the Israeli occupation’s continued violation of the sanctity of Palestinian higher education institutions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The Ministry states, in a release, that the Israeli occupation forces stormed today the campus of Palestine Technical University “Kadoorie” in Tulkarm. They raided and wreaked havoc in the properties of automotive engineering laboratories.
Within the genocidal war being perpetrated against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation stormed the branch of Al-Quds Open University in Gaza and demolished parts of its buildings, not to mention the bombardment of Al-Azhar and Islamic universities before. Also, the Israeli forces completely and partially demolished several buildings there, and they continue to arrest students and professors of Palestinian educational institutions.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research confirms that the occupation continues to violate and disregard all international conventions, laws and norms, which criminalize violating the sanctity of educational institutions.
The Ministry renews its demands to all international human rights, humanitarian and media institutions, the Association of Arab Universities, and all free people in the world to assume their own responsibilities and to firmly exercise their role. This is to ensure the curbing of the occupation’s aggressive and criminal acts against all components, segments and institutions of Palestinian community, as well as the necessity of providing protection for educational institutions.
The Ministry affirms that the barbaric aggression of the occupation will not break the will of the Palestinian people. It also reaffirms that, despite all the challenges and obstacles the occupation is trying to impose, higher education institutions will continue to fulfill their lofty mission represented in the building of educated and mindful generations belonging to Palestine and its just cause.
