BDS@10 presents a lecture with Omar Barghouti & Rebecca Vilkomerson moderated by David Stein at Alwan for the Arts on:

What’s Next for the Global Struggle for Palestinian Rights

Wed, May 6, 2015 7:00 pm at Alwan for the Arts
Free and open to the public

Ten years ago, Palestinian civil society issued a call for a campaign of boycotts, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel, to last until it complies with international law and Palestinian rights.

In that time a global movement has rapidly emerged against Israeli Apartheid, and corporations and campuses across the world have yielded to demands to divest. At the same time, the mainstream of Israeli society has continued to lurch rightward, including last year’s 51-day military assault on Gaza.

Omar Barghouti is a founding member of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel. He is the author of Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions: The Global Struggle for Palestinian Rights (Haymarket 2011).

Rebecca Vilkomerson is the Executive Director of Jewish Voice for Peace and has been widely published in numerous media outlets, including The Los Angeles Times, CNN.com, The Nation, The Hill, Huffington Post, Tikkun and Zeek.

David Stein, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Place, Culture, and Politics at the CUNY Graduate Center.

This event is co-sponsored by Haymarket Books, Jewish Voice for Peace and Alwan for the Arts

Alwan’s programs are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council of the Arts (NYSCA) and New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in Partnership with the City Council.
