RAMALLAH (Ma’an) — Israeli forces assaulted and detained an assistant lecturer from Birzeit University on Monday in the Old City of East Jerusalem, the university said Tuesday.
“A large number of Israeli soldiers attacked Omar al-Farouq Nasser Ubeidiya, an assistant lecturer and graduate student at the Physics department, while he was in Jerusalem,” Birzeit University said in a statement.
Ubeidiya was “brutally” beaten and left bleeding following the incident, after which he was detained.
No further details were available about the arrest.
