Publication advice on collaboration with academic partners in Israel

The Advisory Committee on Collaborations was asked by the Executive Board to prepare an advisory report on Tilburg University’s partnerships with universities in Israel in the context of the Gaza conflict. Based on these findings, the Advisory Committee concludes that Tilburg University, as a moral actor, cannot remain passive and must act. The Committee translates this moral judgment into the following perspective for action: the Advisory Committee advises Tilburg University to suspend, within the legal and administrative frameworks, the collaborative activities under investigation.

Bearing Witness to the Israel-Gaza War

This document was written out of a profound sense of responsibility and commitment to addressing the ongoing humanitarian and political crisis in Gaza. Based on my experience conducting rigorous research and critical analysis, I have undertaken this work as both a citizen compelled to respond to the actions of his government and an academic determined to uphold human rights and ethical principles.

New UN report: Impacts of war have set back development in Gaza by as much as 69 years

Without lifting economic restrictions, enabling recovery, and investing in development, the Palestinian economy may not be able to restore pre-war levels and advance forward by relying on humanitarian aid alone.

The assessment suggests that a comprehensive recovery and reconstruction plan, combining humanitarian aid with strategic investments in recovery and reconstruction along with lifting economic restrictions and promoting recovery-enabling conditions, could help put the Palestinian economy on a restorative track to realign with Palestinian development plans by 2034. But this scenario can only play out if recovery efforts are unrestricted.
