While the ongoing Israeli, US – backed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza is entering its third year, the United States (US), rather than end its complicity with Israel, has imposed sanctions against Al-Haq, Al-Mezan, and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) – the leading human rights organisations working on international criminal accountability for perpetrators of atrocity crimes in Palestine.

Director of Al-Haq Shawan Jabarin Holds Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera accountable

Il Corriere Della Sera, one of Italy’s most prominent newspapers, has paid around 15,000 Euros in damages to Shawan Jabarin, the General Director of Al-Haq, for falsely accusing him in 2021 of being a terrorist and murderer, an unfounded allegation based on Israeli propaganda and smear campaigns. Mr. Jabarin will  donate the compensation to Al-Haq and UNRWA. 

Palestinian Organisations Welcome Landmark ICJ Provisional Measures Order Finding That Israel’s Actions in Gaza Are Plausibly Genocidal

Our organisations thank South Africa for its leadership in taking the case and commend South Africa’s commitment “to end all acts of apartheid and genocide against the Palestinian people and to walk with them towards the realisation of their collective right to self-determination, for, as Nelson Mandela momentously declared, “our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians”.

International Court of Justice (ICJ) Preliminary Hearings 11 and 12 January 2024

On 11 and 12 January 2024, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) —the judicial organ of the United Nations—will hold public hearings in its seat in The Hague with regards to the proceedings instituted by South Africa against Israel on 29 December 2023 (Proceedings against Israel concerning alleged violations by Israel of its obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (the “Genocide Convention”) in relation to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip).
